The Forest
The opening of Jaak Visnap’s and Evi Tihemets’ exhibition The Forest will take place at Tampere Maja gallery on February 29th at 5 PM. The Forest is a combination of Jaak Visnap’s and Evi Tihemets’ work, where the works of two artists blend together to create one entirety. The exhibition is open until the 24th of March.
The Forest is a continuation of Evi Tihemets’ 1958 thesis, where she created illustrations for August Kitzberg’s play Werewolf (Libahunt). The central theme of this exhibition is the forest, with a focus on how it’s mystical essence inspires versatile interpretations of the world around us. Visnap and Tihemets have worked together for 20 years and continue to inspire and complement each other’s work.
Jaak Visnap’s (1975) work explores themes of modern society, religion and extraterrestrial life. Visnap is an esteemed lithographer who prints all his works himself. His works can be found in the Art Museum of Estonia, Tartu Art Museum, the EMMA museum in Finland and private collections in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Greece.
Evi Tihemets (1932) combines different techniques in her art. Her art style consists of bright colors, an emphasis on details and strong contrasts. She has held exhibitions in Finland, Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Belgium and New-Zealand.
