Sinikka Hurskainen The Joy of Life
Sinikka Hurskainen The Joy of Life
On Thursday, October 17th at 5:00 PM, an exhibition of naive paintings by Finnish artist Sinikka Hurskainen will open at Tampere House. The exhibition will be open until November 10th.
Sinikka Hurskainen is a Finnish painter and politician. She has studied art in France, Finland, and Russia, and served as Vice President of the Council of Europe from 2010 to 2011. Hurskainen’s oil paintings combine naivism and naturalism.
Naivism is a modernist art movement that began to spread in the late 19th century. Naive art is often very detailed and brightly colored, and it does not use central perspective or consider anatomy, light, or air. A naive artist creates with the same passion as an academic artist but without the use of formal methods.
