A Room of One’s Own – Together
The opening of Urpu-Elina Korhonen’s oil painting exhibition “A Room of One’s Own – Together” will take place on Thursday, the 22nd of August at 5 p.m. at Tampere Maja art gallery.
Korhonen’s exhibitions tells a story of a person’s inner world from two points of view. Each person attempts to form a comprehensive identity. This process demands peace and alone time. Interaction between two people can either aid and support this process or damage and shatter a person’s identity and peace.
The paintings of “A Room of One’s Own” are demonstrative and still-life-like, reality being a mere suggestion, with a limited color scheme and serene mood. The paintings tell a story of independence, peace and personal space and are inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel “A Room of One’s Own”.
“Together” tells a story of being alone together, it’s ambiances and challenges. These painting are more expressive, with an intense color scheme.
Urpu-Elina Korhonen (TaM) is an artist and art teacher living near Tampere in Ylöjärvi. Korhonen explores themes of human emotions and the relationship between one’s self and others.
The exhibition was supported by the city of Tampere.
